Pecan Cupcake/Pastry Stand W/Turquoise
This
delightful looking cupcake/pastry stand is really good looking. There was a crack that occurred during drying
that I decided to do something with other than ditching the piece of wood. So, I first filled it with coffee grounds and
clear glue, then added crushed turquoise on top of that. To me that made it even more attractive and
certainly utilized a piece of wood that some would have tossed. After the filling was done and then all the
sanding, the wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil. After that the finishing was done with a
walnut oil based wax. This gives the
stand a nice hard long lasting natural finish.
And, it is totally renewable with olive oil when needed. Care instructions are included. The diameter is 8 ¼” with a height of 2 ½”. The base diameter is 4”. 5Jun18

Lovely looking cake stand. A very useful item to have in your kitchen. Also this could be useful for displaying ornaments etc on. Very nice colouration in this stand especially near the base on the underside of the stand, lovely dark colouration. The turquoise adds to this stands good looks. Well done my friend.
ReplyDeleteThank you! Glad you like it. Your comments mean a lot to me. After all, even though you aren't doing it right now you are still very much a turner! I deliberated on the turquoise but decided to do it. Glad I did!
