There were some cracks in this wood that at first I
thought I might fill with either turquoise or maybe some red coral. But, once I really started looking at the
wood I decided against it. So, they were
filled with natural dust. The natural
coloring of this wood is just too good.
You might pick up in the photos a flaw now and then, but that just adds
to the rustic appeal of the jar. I am
not gonna say you gotta put cookies in this jar. It will hold 5 cups of anything you
want. Use it with confidence as the
wood was first sealed with food grade walnut oil. The finishing was done with a mixture of
walnut oil and shellac with some walnut oil based wax to aid in the smoothness
of the finish. This combination gives
the jar a nice hard long lasting natural finish. The outside diameter is 8 ¼” and the inside
diameter is 5 ¾”. The total height is 5
¼”. The vessel height is 4” and the
depth is 3 ½”. 11Nov18 BXP93

This cookie jar is lovely, I love the shape of this especially at the top where the lid fits onto the base, gives me the impression of an UFO. Rustic I love, the colouration I like very much. A beautiful jar nicely turned. The lid fits perfectly and adds to its shape perfectly. Well done Dave.
ReplyDeleteHi Les! And Thank You! Another nice thing about this jar is that it is already sold. Went rather quickly which always makes me smile some. Take care, my friend!
