Very nice? Yes, it is. I believe it will make no difference whether you are a professional chef or a household cook, you will really enjoy using this mortar & pestle. With it being turned from pecan you may be assured that it will last a long time. All wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and finished with two more coats of the same. The finish is renewable with regular olive oil. The mortar is 4 ¼” in diameter, 2 ¾” high and 1 ¾” deep. It has a measured capacity of 1 cup. The pestle is 5” long and 1” in diameter.
