This is truly a classic styled pecan wood serving bowl. The lines are simple and clean and it has a slight lip to it. The natural coloration of the wood really makes this bowl stand out. From time to time I will add some crushed turquoise to a piece or burn some lines in it for decorative reasons but not with this bowl. I think I would be shooting myself in the foot if I did that. This is a medium sized bowl as the diameter is 10 ¼” with a height of 2 ½” and a depth of 1 ¾”. Rather on the spacious side the volume measures to be 5 cups. The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with several coats of a walnut oil/shellac mixture. Then it was buffed while spinning at a high speed. Using a combination such as this gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.
