Classic & Spacious Pecan Serving Bowl

Such a lovely looking wood pecan is.  Not many can argue with that I think.  This classic styled serving bowl holds a whopping ½ gallon measuring it to the rim.  That is a lot of salads or whatever goodies you decide to put in it.  With an all natural finish of food grade walnut oil and shellac mixed, it will provide a hard long lasting natural finish.  The wood was first sealed with the food grade walnut oil.  The bowl measures 11 ½” in diameter, 3” high, and has a depth of 2”.  This bowl is perfect sized for many tables as the diameter is not overly large.  With the natural coloration of this wood with the light and dark colors with some spalting added to it you have to admit it is a good looking bowl.  Certainly one of a kind.  28Feb18  BLP182   For more info see:

Pecan Pedestal Goodie Server

There is no doubt that this is a great looking and useful piece of pecan turning.  And, it has a nice rustic appeal to it as well.  There is a slight roughness that I purposely left on both lips and a wonderful knot hole in the base that does not go all the way through.  The color variations that come naturally to this wood really make this server stand out.  It holds a pretty fair amount of goodies for you.  The outer ring holds 3 cups measured to the brim and the inside bowl holds 1 cup.  It can be used to nuts and candies or even chips and salsa or dips.  The outside diameter is 10 ¾” with the inside bowl measuring 4 ½”.  The outer ring is 1” deep and the bowl is 1 ¾”.  The total height is 4” and without the lid 3 ½”.  The wood was sealed with two coats of food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  This combination gives the piece a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  19Feb18  SDP53

Red Oak Burl Pedestal Bowl

Storyline: I cut this burl off a red oak log a while back.  Not sure just how long but at least 4 months ago, I am sure.  So, this piece of wood just sat out in the weather in the log yard all that time.  It seems to me that doing that really helped with the way this wood looks.  Being from burl the grain patterns change in it all the time and you can really see that in the last photo.  There is a little bit of natural flaw in the wood in the way of some burring on the outside.  The bowl holds 5 cups volume.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture, relatively heavy on the shellac for a brilliant shine.  This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  The diameter is 8 ½” with a height of 3 ¾” and a depth of 2 ½”.  With the volume it is capable of this bowl has many, many uses.  Just think of this sitting on your table as a centerpiece.  4Feb18  BLRO72  For more info see:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/591509675/red-oak-burl-pedestal-bowl
