This heavily spalted piece is really
something else. First let me say it is
all one piece of wood. No glue or screws
here. Uhuh. This 2 tier dish may be used for such a
variety of things, it will amaze. Use it
for different kinds of nuts like the photos show, or candies, even
jewelry! This dish is certainly rustic
in appearance with all the spalting and the worm holes. The top has a bit of difference in color as
it is more from heartwood whereas the bottom is more outer wood. The wood was all sealed with food grade
walnut oil and then finished with a mixture of walnut oil and shellac. This gives the dish a nice hard long lasting
natural finish. The bottom diameter is
6” with a depth of about a ½”. The upper
diameter is 3 ½” with a depth of ¾”. The
total height of the piece is 3”.

Nice and chunky and good looking and add the spaulting and the rustiness and what have you got, another winner. Beautiful looking two tier dish. Dave my friend you have done a lovely job turning this dish from just one piece of wood. Well done.
