Using the word elegant may not give
this bowl it’s due. After all it has
lots of beautiful color naturally. You
will find some cracks that were sealed up with clear glue and coffee
grounds. Nothing like keeping things as
natural as possible. Pecan has some
great looking grain patterns as well. As
far as capacity for this bowl it measured at one half gallon. The outer diameter is 9 ¼” and the inner
diameter is 7 ¼”. The height comes to 3
½” and the depth is just under 3”. You
have a nice lip for ease in handling the bowl.
The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a
mixture of walnut oil and shellac. This
gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish. You will find a couple of defects in the wood
on the inside that just would not sand totally smooth. Enjoy this fantastic bowl! 28May19

Flared Cedar Elm Goodie Bowl
Is this a goodie bowl or what? Makes no difference whether you use it for
nuts and candies, it will work well. You
might even use it as a catch all bowl for keys and change and the like. No matter the usage you pick, this bowl
turned from beautiful cedar elm will look real good. For those who have never heard of Cedar Elm,
it is also known as Texas Elm and Texas Cedar Elm. It is referred to as
cedar elm because it commonly grows around cedar trees. And feel confidence putting edibles in it as
the wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut
oil based wax that includes carnauba.
The bowl is 7 ½” long, 4 ½” wide, 3” at highest point, 1 ¾” at the
lowest. The depth is 1” measured to the
lowest side level and the volume measures 1 cup. Now seeing the volume was measured to the
lowest side level, that does not mean you can’t just pile goodies in until they
fall out!!! Enjoy this beautiful and
unique shaped bowl. 25May19 BLCE9

Remarkable Cedar Elm Serving Bowl
There are many out there who have
never heard of cedar elm. It’s also
known as Texas Elm and Texas Cedar Elm. It’s called cedar elm
because it is commonly found growing around juniper (also known as cedar). So, you have cedar and elm, therefore cedar
elm! How about that? Sorry.
I couldn’t help myself there.
Anyway it is a remarkably nice looking wood with subtle yet grand
looking grain patterns. This bowl is no
exception. I created an interesting lip
for handling ease midway up the side. You
will find some small imperfections in the wood which I usually choose to leave
to give a more handmade rustic appeal.
The bowl is about 8 ½” in diameter, 2 ¾” high and has a depth of 1 ¾”. The volume measures to 4 cups. The wood was sealed with food grade walnut
oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture. This gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting
natural finish. Care instructions
included with purchase. BLCE8 23May19

Ornate Winged Cedar Elm Bowl
If you are looking for an unusual
centerpiece bowl, here it is. If it
needs to be different in shape, but hold a fair amount, look no further. This winged bowl turned from cedar elm, also
known as Texas Elm is really naturally beautiful.
So the word ornate describes it well.
The grain pattern and the tiny knot holes just add to the beauty and
rustic appeal of this bowl. It measures
9” long, 7 ¼” wide, 3” high and has a depth of 2 ¼”. The volume measured at 4 cups to the
brim. But go ahead and pile the nuts and
candies until they fall off the top!
OK. Small fruits, peppers, little
tomatoes, and other tasty treats as well.
The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil. The bowl was finished with a glossy
micro-crystalline wax. It holds up well
to usage. 15May19 BLCE7

Gracious Cedar Elm Pedestal Bowl
This is the first piece of cedar elm
that I have turned in quite some time. A
lot of folks say they have never heard of the wood, but it is quite prevalent
in Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and a few other states. It is
also known as Texas Elm. This bowl has some natural
defects in it that I felt needed to stay for rustic appearance. You will find some cracks that I reinforced
with clear glue and natural dust and some blemishes in the wood. The bowl does hold liquids to the amount of 3
cups. The diameter is 6 ¾” with a height
of 3” and a depth of 2 inches. The wood
was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut
oil/shellac mixture. This gives the bowl
a nice hard natural finish that you may use with confidence. 13May19

Gorgeous Pecan Wood Winged Pedestal Bowl
Is it OK if I give this bowl a big
WOW??? I think it kinda deserves it,
don’t you? Just look at the natural
colors, grain pattern and to add a bit of extra rustic flavor a fantastic
looking crack in the shape of a fish hook.
The crack was filled in layers with clear glue and natural dust so it
should never cause a problem of any kind.
On the bottom is what I believe is a knot hole gone a bit crazy. Cool looking, too. The length of this piece is 9 ½” and the
width is 6 ¾”. The height is 2 ½” and
the depth was measured at 1 ¼” at the low side.
The volume is about 2” measured to the same low side. The wood was sealed with food grade walnut
oil and then finished with several coats of shellac. Using these ingredients gives the bowl a nice
hard long lasting natural finish. The
pecan bowl will not last long.
