Cute Pecan Wood Pedestal Bowl

This smallish sized bowl is just right for many uses such as nuts and candy.  OK.  Yeah.  You can put other stuff in it as well.  Who am I to tell you what you can or cannot put in it?  The diameter of this little gem is 4 ¾” and it has a height of 3”.  The depth of the bowl is 1 ¾” and it has an approximate volume of 1 cup.  I didn’t measure it but I figger it to be about that.  Take a close look at the natural color of this pecan wood and you will surely love it.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  A combination like this gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  14Apr19  BLP212

10 1/2" Elm Serving Bowl

Elm is an interesting wood with the natural colors and grain patterns.  Many have heard me say that everybody needs a bowl, but not everybody needs a huge bowl.  This is a nice medium range bowl with a diameter of 10 ½”.  The depth of it is 2” with a height of 3”.  The volume measures 8 cups.  I know, I know.  That’s one half of a gallon.  That is a pretty good amount for salads, veggies and even some popcorn!   And, another nice thing about this bowl is it is very light only weighing 1 ½ lbs.  You might even want to use it as a centerpiece bowl full of fruits and nuts.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  This gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  14Apr19  BLE64

Now Playing Recliner Spud

Yesterday, April 5th, I had another steroid injection into my lower back.  Until Tuesday, I will be playing recliner spud.  Some call it couch potato, but seeing I will be in my recliner 90% of the time, I will be a recliner potato.  Or, as I prefer to say, a recliner spud!  Chloe Dog pretty much seems to claim the couch as hers.

Touch of Coral White Oak Jar

White Oak presents opportunities for adding color to it such as red coral or turquoise.  Also to be considered is powdered copper or brass.  I added a bit of red coral to the lid on this jar.  I did not want to be overbearing with it so there is just a little bit of it added to some of the cracks on the lid.  There is also a trace of it in one spot on the inside.  This wood also displays it’s own great coloring that comes naturally as well as magnificent grain patterns.  Fantastic piece for keeping candies, nuts, and other fine things.  Not all of those fine things have to be edible, yet keep in mind it does hold 2 cups worth.  The diameter of the jar is 5 ½” with a total height of 4”.  The vessel height is 2 ½” and the depth is about 2”.  When you look at the knob on the lid you might be puzzled, so let me solve the puzzlement.  Yes, there is a small amount missing.  I started to go ahead and turn another lid until I looked at it again.  I decided I liked it like it was, so there you go.  Mystery solved!!!  Simple lines yet elegant and rustic in appearance.  3Apr19  BXWO4

For The Turquoise Lovers!

6 1/4" White Oak Bowl
