Beautiful Pecan Pedestal Bowl

Nope.  I ain’t gonna tell you that you just gotta fill this pedestal bowl with nothing but M&M’s.  But I am gonna tell ya they look real good in it.  You might also put some pistachios in it as well as using it as a catch all bowl for keys and change.  Some might even use it for potpourri.  The pecan bowl has a nice capacity of 3 cups.  The diameter is 7” and the height is 3 ½” and depth measures at 2 ½”.  The wood was sealed with two coats of food grade walnut oil and then finished with 2 coats of a walnut oil based wax.  This combination gives this bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  You may also still feel the grain of the wood with this finish.  16Dec17  BLP177  For more info see:

Stunning 8 1/2" Pecan Serving Bowl

There just isn’t any doubt in my mind that you will find this pecan bowl stunning to the eye.  The natural coloration that Mamma Nature provided make this bowl a winner.  It also has a fairly large capacity for one of this size with it measuring 5 cups volume.  The diameter of the bowl is 8 ½” with a height of 3” with the depth coming to 2 ¼”.  Just enough extra wood in the base to add to the stability of the piece.  Use this as a medium sized serving bowl for veggies or even smashed taters.  Some folks might use it as a popcorn bowl.  I can even picture it sitting in the middle of your table full of fruit and nuts.  The wood was sealed with two coats of food grade walnut oil and then finished with a couple of coats of a walnut oil based wax.  Using this method gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  Also, it allows you to still feel the grain of the wood.  16Dec17  BLP176   For more info see:

Classic Pecan Serving Bowl

This is without any doubt a classic!  The simple lines and the natural beauty of pecan wood make this bowl one to behold!  I can claim credit only for the design of the bowl, not the beauty of the wood.  The diameter is 11 ½” with a height of 3 ¼” and a depth of 2 ½”.  The volume of the bowl measured at ¾ gallon.  The bowl weighs 2 ½ pounds.  The wood was sealed with a couple of coats of food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil based wax.  This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  Don’t pass this one up.  It’s gonna look real good sitting on your dining table full of goodies!  15Dec17 BLP175  For more info see:

Spacious Pecan Serving Bowl

This is one of those bowls that just come around every once in a while.  Not overly large in diameter yet it does hold a fair amount as the volume measures at ¾ of a gallon.  That is a lot of salad, smashed spuds, veggies and whatever else you decide to use this bowl for.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil based wax.  The bowl received two coats of both.  This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  The diameter is 10 ¾” with a height of 4” and a depth of 3 ¼”.  The bowl weighs 2 ½ pounds.  With the wood being pecan, I don’t think anyone could dispute the beauty of the wood.  There is a small area on the outside that is a bit rough that would not sand out.  But, this also gives the bowl a nice rustic appeal.  Also using the sealers and finishes you may still feel the grain of the wood.  15Dec17  BLP174   For more info see:

Nicely Spalted Elm Serving Bowl

This is for sure a very nice looking bowl.  I love these medium sized serving bowls that have a relatively high volume capacity.  This one holds 7 cups to the brim.  I tried real hard to get it to a full half gallon but it just was not to be.  Simple lines with a slight flare at the base make this elm bowl an eye catcher.  The diameter is 9 ½” with a height of 3 ½” and a depth of 2 ½”.  You can’t say that the spalting lines in this bowl don’t make it really stand out.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  The mix was just heavy enough with the shellac to give the bowl some sheen.  Using this combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  13Dec17  BLE61 For more info see:

Naturally Beautiful Pecan Candy Jar

No doubt about this jar turned from pecan wood is beautiful.  And I can’t take any credit for that as what you see is all natural.  Mamma Nature did it, not me.  All I did was seal the wood with food grade walnut oil and then finish it with a walnut oil based wax.  And in doing this gives the jar a nice hard long lasting finish.  Far be it from me to say that you can only put candy in this jar.  Use it for whatever you wish.  You might want to use it to hide your personal pistachio stash.  Then again you might want to hide some treasures in it.  The outside diameter is 4 ¾” with an inside lip diameter of 3 ¾”.  The total height comes to 6” and the vessel height is 4 ¾”.  The vessel depth measures at 4” with a volume coming to 3 cups.  That is actually a passel load of M&M’s!!!  With the natural colors this is one to have.  You will find only one burred area that won’t sand out on the top side of the lid.  Just adds to the rustic flavor of the jar.  8Dec17  BXP86   For more info see:

Pecan Natural Edge Trencher

Now lookee here!!!  A trench bowl made from pecan wood that has bark on both sides!  What more could you ask of a bowl of this type?  Now I am not gonna say that this bowl kinda kicked me around some while I was hollowing it out, but it did.  Are all of the inside surfaces even?  No.  Does it have a hand hollowed out look?  Yes it does.  Even though most of the hollowing was done with a power tool, it was still done with my hands controlling it.  Definitely not computerized or lasered.  Uhuh  I did all I can do to keep the bark on the sides, but I can’t guarantee just how long it will stay.  But, it should be for quite a while.  To help keep the bark in place, besides reinforcing it with clear glue, I also sprayed the bark and bottom with spray shellac.  The top and inside was finished with two coats of food grade walnut oil.  The trencher is 12 ½” long, 10” wide, 1 ¾” high, and has an average depth of 1”.  Won’t be another one like it so don’t pass it up.  4Dec17  DTP2  For more info see:
