Every time I look at one of my
turnings from cedar elm I am amazed at the natural colors of this wood. Truly remarkable. This nice bowl is just right for candies,
nuts and other tasty treats. Some folks
may decide to have it sitting on a sideboard as a catch all bowl for keys and
change. It does hold a fair amount as
the volume came to 3 cups. That’s a lot
of pistachios, mixed nuts, or M&M’s!
The diameter of the bowl is 7” with a height of 4”. The depth came to 2 ¾”. There is even a little knot in the bowl, but
not to worry. The bowl does hold water
just fine. The wood was sealed with food
grade walnut oil and then the finishing was done with a walnut oil/shellac
mixture. Using the combination such as
that gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish. 26Jul19
