Every time I look at one of my
turnings from cedar elm I am amazed at the natural colors of this wood. Truly remarkable. This nice bowl is just right for candies,
nuts and other tasty treats. Some folks
may decide to have it sitting on a sideboard as a catch all bowl for keys and
change. It does hold a fair amount as
the volume came to 3 cups. That’s a lot
of pistachios, mixed nuts, or M&M’s!
The diameter of the bowl is 7” with a height of 4”. The depth came to 2 ¾”. There is even a little knot in the bowl, but
not to worry. The bowl does hold water
just fine. The wood was sealed with food
grade walnut oil and then the finishing was done with a walnut oil/shellac
mixture. Using the combination such as
that gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish. 26Jul19

for. All in 6 distinctive layers. The diameter of the bowl is 8 ½”, the height
is 4” with a depth of 3 ¼”. The volume
measured comes to 6 cups. All of the
wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then the finishing was done with
a mixture of walnut oil and shellac.
This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting finish. This bowl will certainly look good sitting on
your table full of tasty treats such as fruits and nuts. 23Jul19

Remarkable Pecan Wood Jar
What could be
better than a beautiful wood jar turned from pecan wood that is full of
pecans? Probably not much. This spacious jar holds 3 full cups, and that
ain’t bad at all. Pecan wood has such
beautiful colors that come naturally to it there is no need to add
anything. Mamma Nature has taken care of
it all. You might also notice with the
catalogue number that this is the 100th lidded vessel that I have
turned from pecan wood. This does
include boxes as well as jars. The
diameter of this jar is 8” and the total height is 5”. The vessel height is 2 ½” and the depth is
2”. All wood was sealed with food grade
walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture. With a combination like that the jar has a
nice hard long lasting natural finish.
The lid is a bit loose in case the wood swells a little due to high
humidity environments. 21Jul19 BXP100

Spalted Pecan Winged Bowl
When you see a decorative bowl
shaped like this, there are folks who just gotta have it! Look at the large amount of spalting that
this bowl has. Just amazing when you add
the natural color of the pecan wood.
It’s rustic appearance has a certain wow factor to it. You have some worm holes, little knot holes,
and other natural defects in the wood that make this bowl what it is. The wood took two coats of food grade walnut
oil to seal it. Then the finishing was
done in two stages. First was two coats
of a walnut oil/shellac mixture. Then it
was sanded again to insure the smoothest finish possible. Then the bowl received a generous coat of a
walnut oil based wax. The length of the
bowl is 11” and the width is 7”. The
height is 3 ¼” and the depth is 2 ½”.
The volume measured to be 3 cups.
Using the sealing and finishing materials gives this bowl a good natural
long lasting natural finish.

Winged Cedar Elm Centerpiece Bowl
Most folks will be very pleased to
have this magnificent bowl sitting on their table. Especially if it’s sitting in the middle
filled with all kinds of different goodies!
Not only is this cedar elm bowl winged, it even has a bit of natural
edge on the sides. Take a look at the
natural colors that this wood displays.
How can you not love and want it?
The length of the bowl is 11 ¾” and the width is 7 ¾”. The height including the rim is 3” and the
depth is 2 ¼”. The volume came to 4
cups. The wood was sealed with food
grade walnut oil and then the finishing was done with 2 coats of a walnut
oil/shellac mixture. Using a combination
like this you get a nice long lasting natural finish. Totally renewable with olive oil. 17Jul19

Winged Pecan Nut Bowl
Everybody needs a bowl like
this. Just think how nice it will look
sitting on your desk, dining table, or even sideboard. Fill it up with your favorite nuts or
candies. You might even use it as a
catch all bowl for keys and change. Some
folks even use them for putting those larger diameter candles in. Makes no difference what you use it for, this
little bowl is gonna look good doing it.
I did not measure the volume as it’s really not a serving bowl. It is 7 ½” long and 4 ½” wide. The highest point is 1 ¾” and the lowest is
¾”. Sealed the wood with food grade
walnut oil and then finished it with a walnut oil/shellac mixture. This combination gives the bowl a nice hard
long lasting natural finish.
