The natural colors of this wood are
as the title says, wonderful! The light
coloring combined with the darks and add to the mix some outstanding spalting,
you really have something here. This
bowl will work well for serving your favorite veggies or for salads. Measuring to the brim it holds a spacious ¾
gallon. Not an overly large bowl, it
measures 11 ¼” in diameter, 3 ¼” in height, and has a depth of 2 ½”. If you want another suggestion for it’s
usage, try serving some popcorn in it.
Nice, simply nice. The wood was
sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a mixture of walnut
oil, shellac and a walnut oil based wax.
This gives the bowl a really nice long lasting natural finish. When you have this bowl sitting on your table
I assure you folks are gonna ask about it.

Hackberry certainly gives a beautiful colouration which I really like. A nice shape to this bowl and a small base which gives it a look as if it is floating on air ( or it could just be my imagination? ). A lovely and nicely turned bowl.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Les! Yeah, hackberry has some wonderful coloring to it. No, the base is pretty small. I actually didn't think about it having a floating look until you mentioned it. Your'e right. It does look like it's floating! Nothing wrong with that!
