There is no doubt that this bowl is
unusual. And, beautiful. Naturally beautiful. When you take the natural coloration of pecan
wood, and you add the spalting that is self evident, you have something really
special. I want to make sure that I get
this in, this bowl will not hold liquids so it is mainly for displaying
things. Fruits, nuts, candies,
etc.. All dry items, please. With the way the cracking is on the inside
bottom area I was unable to seal it good to hold liquids. But, all was reinforced with clear glue and
natural dust. Some may not have noticed,
but this bowl also has 7 sides.
Yep. Count ‘em. 7.
Definitely unusual for a bowl.
The general diameter is 9” with a height of 3 ½” and a depth of 2
¾”. The volume was measured at 5
cups. The wood was sealed with food grade
walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture. A combination such as this gives the bowl a
nice hard long lasting natural finish.

Yes certainly it is unique, lovely colour and the spaulting gives it the added rustic look to this wonderful bowl. With its seven sides and its sloping body to a nice sturdy base, I am certain its another sure fire winner. Well done Dave.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Les! I'm happy you like it. I thought 7 sided would make it a bit interesting. Not sure if it's a fast seller, but who knows?
