10" Pecan Wood Cake/Pastry Stand


This wonderfully shaped stand turned from beautiful pecan wood will really stand out on your table.  With diameter of the top being 10” it will work for you standard 9” cakes or cupcakes, sticky buns or whatever else you want to put on it.  The natural beauty of the wood makes it a real treasure.  The height of the stand is 4” and the base diameter is 4 ¾” so there are no issues with stability.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  Using this combination of ingredients gives the stand a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  23Feb19  SDP58

  1. I myself have never turned one of these and after seeing yours I wish I had. A very useful item to have if you bake cakes. I love the grain pattern on the top of the stand. The base is chunky but it needs to be for as you said for stability. Well turned Dave a very useful item nicely turned and finished.

  2. Hi Les! These are somewhat easy to turn as long as your lathe can handle a decent sized chunk of wood. This one started out as a somewhat rounded 13" diameter that was about 7" thick. I start out that was as you know to allow for cracks and who knows what else you will find as you keep getting deeper. Appreciate the comments as always.
