This is such a neat sized bowl, you
will find all kinds of things to use it for.
After all it is 7” in diameter, 3 ¾” high and has a depth of 3”. The base has a nice flair to it for
decorative purposes. And, just so you
will know it holds 4 cups measured to the brim.
The spalting in this bowl is typical of hackberry. You add that to the grain pattern and the
minor pits that the wood has and you have a rustic classic! Use it for nuts and candies, fruits, or even
as a small serving bowl. I think it’s attractive
enough to sit on anybody’s table. The
wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with several coats
of a walnut oil/shellac mixture. Using a
combination such as this gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural
finish. 29Apr19 BLHB74

Small is beautiful and this bowl is beautiful. Rustic I no longer can resist and this bowl has it, lovely. The more I look at this bowl I can see this bowl has character and would be an amazing conversation piece on anybody's table. Well done my friend and by the way the rounded base really suits this bowl.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Les! Hopefully this is one that won't last long. Weather is a little bit rough right now. Dodged a couple of tornadoes yesterday. AWK!!! I guess like the Phil Collins song goes "gators getting close, ain't got me yet!!!"
