Using the word elegant may not give
this bowl it’s due. After all it has
lots of beautiful color naturally. You
will find some cracks that were sealed up with clear glue and coffee
grounds. Nothing like keeping things as
natural as possible. Pecan has some
great looking grain patterns as well. As
far as capacity for this bowl it measured at one half gallon. The outer diameter is 9 ¼” and the inner
diameter is 7 ¼”. The height comes to 3
½” and the depth is just under 3”. You
have a nice lip for ease in handling the bowl.
The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a
mixture of walnut oil and shellac. This
gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish. You will find a couple of defects in the wood
on the inside that just would not sand totally smooth. Enjoy this fantastic bowl! 28May19

Normally you see bowls with curved sides but this one has straight sides which I think makes a refreshing change. Love the colouration which nature has provided for you Dave. All in all a really lovely turned and finished bowl.
ReplyDeleteHi Les! I am so glad you like it. It was a bear to get done and have been wondering how the public will react to it. Hasn't sold yet, so who knows. Take it easy, my friend!
