Red Oak Burl Pedestal Bowl

Storyline: I cut this burl off a red oak log a while back.  Not sure just how long but at least 4 months ago, I am sure.  So, this piece of wood just sat out in the weather in the log yard all that time.  It seems to me that doing that really helped with the way this wood looks.  Being from burl the grain patterns change in it all the time and you can really see that in the last photo.  There is a little bit of natural flaw in the wood in the way of some burring on the outside.  The bowl holds 5 cups volume.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture, relatively heavy on the shellac for a brilliant shine.  This combination gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  The diameter is 8 ½” with a height of 3 ¾” and a depth of 2 ½”.  With the volume it is capable of this bowl has many, many uses.  Just think of this sitting on your table as a centerpiece.  4Feb18  BLRO72  For more info see:  https://www.etsy.com/listing/591509675/red-oak-burl-pedestal-bowl
