10 1/2" 1/2 Gallon Pecan Serving Bowl

No need to add anything to this beautiful pecan bowl to make it stand out.  The natural color of this bowl with a tad bit of spalting added to it just simply makes it easy on the eyes, for sure.  There is a bit of a crack on the lip that I reinforced for good measure with clear glue and natural dust.  This little natural defect helps add to the rustic appearance of this bowl.  Not that pecan needs any help!  The diameter of the bowl is 10 ½” and the height is 3 ¼”.  The depth comes to 2 ½” and the volume measures ½ gallon to the brim.  That is a lot of veggies, smashed spuds, and other tasty items.  The wood was sealed with food grade walnut oil and then finished with a walnut oil/shellac mixture.  A combination like this gives the bowl a nice hard long lasting natural finish.  There is a nice lip for ease in handling.  Certainly a one of a kind piece.  24Jun19  BLP217

  1. Love the colour and grain structure in this Pecan bowl. Nice clean lines and a nicely finished base without any clue to how it was held on the lathe. A very nice turning Dave, well done my friend.

  2. Hi Les! Yeah I hate leaving a tenon on something. Cole Jaws work wonders to eliminate that. Glad you like the bowl. Take care of yourself!
